Will my rug fade?

New Zealand's climate, with its strong UV rays, makes rugs, particularly wool, more susceptible to fading when exposed to direct sunlight. To reduce fading, it’s important to use curtains, blinds, or UV window treatments that limit sun exposure, especially during the peak hours of sunlight. Regularly rotating rugs and furniture can also prevent uneven fading in specific areas that receive more sunlight throughout the day.

What is Premium Surface Protection spray and why is it recommended?

We highly recommend adding Premium Surface Protection to every Nodi rug. Premium Surface Protection treatments create a protective barrier that reduces the impact of UVA and UVB rays, helping to preserve the rug's colour and appearance for longer. Unlike other products, Premium Surface Protection penetrates and coats each fibre, eliminating the need for reapplication after cleaning and lasting through 10 commercial cleans. All rug orders with Premium Surface Protection are treated before dispatch by an approved applicator. Please note this may add a few extra days to our standard delivery time frame.

What is rug underlay and how do I install it?

Our premium underlay ensures your rug stays secure and comfortable, designed to prevent slipping, the edges flicking up and provides extra cushioning underfoot. If you opt for underlay with your rug, it is delivered separately and you can find installation instructions in our care guide. If you are located in Auckland, we can can provide you with a full installation service, please get in contact with our team for this to be added to your quote.

For our loved ones with claws and potential of accidents, we recommend our 100% wool range such as the Basket Weave Wool, or Cut Pile Wool. Our Braided Jute is also a very forgiving option in the 100% jute range. We don't recommend the Looped Jute as this does have the potential for claws to catch on the loops. We strongly recommend the addition of the Premium Surface Protection to your rug provide further protection against spills.

Our most durable rugs for higher traffic use and potential spills while still offering warmth and softness underfoot, is our 100% wool range, such as the Tip Sheared Wool, Cut Pile Wool, and Basket Weave Wool. What is 'Tracking' and which carpet style won't show it?

'Tracking' is the imprint left by footprints on your carpet. This is common on cut pile surfaces and usually disappears after a thorough vacuum, however it will reappear after the carpet is walked on again. This is seen more often in high traffic areas such as doorways and hallways. If this is something you prefer to avoid, our Basket Weave Wool won't show tracking, and with the Tip Sheared Wool style it will be less noticeable.

What is 'permanent pile reversal'?

Also known as 'Shading', is a phenomenon that is not fully understood. It is believed to occur when the carpet pile changes direction, affecting how light is reflected or absorbed, similar to velvet fabrics. This is a natural characteristic and not a manufacturing fault, and it does not impact the carpet's performance. We recommend discussing this feature with your Nodi representative when selecting a cut pile carpet.

Is your carpet protected against insects?

While all Nodi woollen products are treated with Permethrin to deter insects, this treatment does not guarantee insect-proof protection, nor does it prevent them from entering your home. Nodi products are not guaranteed against insect attack, including carpet beetles. Our wool products are crafted from natural fibres, which are inherently susceptible to insect risks due to the organic materials used. Effective prevention relies on regular, thorough cleaning practices. Please refer to our care guide or contact our team for further information.

When can you install my chosen carpet?

If your chosen carpet is in stock, our team will be able to advise the soonest availability for installation.

How will it wear?

To keep your carpet looking it's best, a little regular care goes a long way. Gentle vacuuming, prompt attention to spills, and occasional professional cleaning will help maintain its natural texture and softness for years to come. To make caring for your rugs & carpet easy, we’ve created a detailed Care Guide. It’s packed with helpful tips on managing stains, spills, and general maintenance.

Will it stain if I spill something on it?

While wool carpet will naturally resist stains, they aren’t completely stain-proof. The best way to manage spots and spills is to address them right away. For most everyday spills, a gentle clean with water is usually all that’s needed, though stronger stains may need further attention. Please refer to our care guide for further advice.

How often should I vacuum my carpet?

The most important step to maintaining your Nodi carpet is regular vacuuming. Vacuum at least once a week in high traffic areas and at least every three months under infrequently moved furniture. It is recommended to use a non-rotating suction head with your vacuum as rotating brushes can be harsh on surfaces. If you do use a rotating brush occasionally, ensure it is not touching the carpet pile.

What is a normal amount of shedding?

Shedding, or Fluffing, is most noticeable in the first few months after installation, as loose fibres left over from the manufacturing process come to the surface. This is common with new wool carpets and particularly with cut pile construction. This is normal and typically subsides with regular vacuuming over time.

A yarn has popped up on my carpet, how do I fix this?

Short fibres may pop up while the carpet settles. These can be gently trimmed or pushed back through. Do not pull the tuft or it could leave a hole in the carpet. A small amount of latex glue can help in securing the tuft back in place, please contact our team for one of our care kits including a small pot of our latex glue.

Will my furniture cause indents in my carpet? How can I fix these?

To avoid permanent dents from heavy furniture, use furniture cups and/or periodically move furniture slightly to re-distribute the weight. You can lift the fibres of a dented area by gently steaming and then brushing the pile back into place.
